This course aims at providing the practical underpinnings of academic writing. Thus, the laboratory will focus on main aspects of textual and applied linguistics, concerning methodological and theoretical knowledge related to written communication. Several practical exercitations will be hold during the classes.

Readings provided bu the professor

The Laboratory focuses on two aspects of academic and professional writing.
The first one concerns the stages of writing process (e.g., planning, editing).
The second one concerns the specific features of some text types (e.g., descriptive, narrative, argumentative texts).
For each stage of the writing process, and for each text type analyzed, students will provide written exercises.

Readings provided by the professor

The workshop goal is to provide its students a practical in-depth analysis on the methods and techniques within journalistic writing.
In-depth studies on writing and journalism within news, reportage, news agencies, magazines will be scheduled.
Analysis on radio and television journalistic writing will be provided and a more and more space will be given to the new journalistic forms and to the online writing of course.
Rights and duties of the journalist will be deepened too.
As it is a workshop the attendance is compulsory.
